Sunday 18th December

Oh no, you didn’t, oh yes we did!  Well, the time had come for our annual trip to the Panto.  We’ve seen Dick Whittingham, Jack and the Beanstalk. Sleeping Beauty and this year it was the turn of Treasure Island.   Daffodil, Rose and our parent helper Kiran with 20 Brownies meet up at LPAC  to see the play which was organised by our District Commissioner, Sarai.  Also along where 1st Bracebridge Heath Brownies and Rainbows, 1st Waddington Rainbows, 1st Waddington (RAF) Guides, a few girls from 2nd Waddington Brownies and the Senior Section.  Thank you to Sarai for booking the tickets and arranging the refreshments and thank you to Donna for organising it on the day.

As per the last 3  years, we took our seats in the main section which were great as it gave us a really good view of the stage.  A little bag of sweets to keep us going and then the show started.  This year’s outing wasn’t technically a panto – more a retelling of the classic pirate adventure told by University of Lincoln’s graduating drama students: One snowy winter’s night a young girl searches through her uncle’s attic and finds a treasure chest.  With a treasure map in her pocket and the ghost of Captain Flint never far behind, young Jem Hawkins is drawn into a world of swashbuckling excitement, brimming with buccaneers and buried gold as she sets sail to Treasure Island.

Although there wasn’t as much interaction as a traditional panto, the girls told Daffodil during the 20 minute interval that they were enjoyed themselves and having fun.  A quick loo break before taking our seats again – this time with a lovely tub of vanilla ice-cream in the 2nd half. (we were asked to stop eating our sweets at the interval as 50 or so girls rustling 50 bags of sweets was  little noisy!)  All too soon, it was a time to go – we managed to squeeze in a few photos and have added these to our website photo gallery.  No District panto next year as plans are afoot for a much more exciting trip 🙂

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all and see you in January:-)
