Monday 23rd March – Brownies at Home

Due to the current crisis and Girlguiding suspending all meetings, events and activities, we didn’t meet this week.  However, this did not stop our Unit who are now running our brand-new Brownies at Home programme.  This week (thankfully completed just in time before the national lock-down!) saw the delivery of our first pack-ups to all 24 Brownies.  A massive thank you to Kitty’s mum, Bea, who delivered 7 packages to those living at RAF Waddington, and Daisy and Paige who delivered 8 to those living in Bracebridge Heath.  Daffodil delivered the rest and we only had to post one 😊  We’ve already received an email and photos of one very excited Brownie opening her pack-up – photos of Lilly uploaded 😊

Each pack-up contained enough activities to keep our Brownies busy for several weeks:

Badge Boredom Buster Challenge – this booklet contained the clauses for 17 out of the 18 Brownie interest badges plus 8 other simple challenges such as make paper plates or boats and race them, make an Easter bonnet or even design your dream bedroom!

Easter Badge Challenge Pack – this booklet (created by another Unit), included activities for 6 different challenge badges, the themes being nature and farmyard fun!

The pack also included a couple of crafts plus a few other bits and pieces (photograph uploaded).  As we are not having our end of term awards ceremony, the pack-ups had all badges, certificates and prizes:

Best Six Winners.  Congratulations to the Hedgehogs who have won this term’s Best Six Award.  Well done to Isla R, Sophie, Ellie N, Aurora, Jasmine & Gracie who all received a fabulous certificate and Brownie bear ornament.

Best Brownie Winner.  Best Brownie of the Spring term was Paige.  Congratulations and well done to Paige – a well deserved win for such a fabulous Brownie!  Paige received a fabulous certificate, trophy, Brownie bear, Girlguiding notebook and Well Done badge.

Promise Ceremony.  Lastly, for those who were due to take their Promise this weekend at Parva House, their pack-ups contained all their badges and new Brownie books which they would have received.  Hopefully, they will take their Promise soon and receive their Promise certificate and metal Promise badge at that time.

That’s it for now.  Keep safe, keep healthy and keep in touch xx
