Monday 30th March – Brownies Badge Work

Due to the current crisis and Girlguiding suspending all meetings, events and activities, we didn’t meet this week.  However, as reported last week, we are now running our brand-new Brownies at Home programme.  As all Brownies have received their pack-ups full of badges, challenges and other activities, Daffodil is starting to receive lots of lovely emails of work completed.  Well done to those received so far (photos of all work uploaded to our Photo page):

Isla J – Isla has made a fabulous start on her Baking badge from the Badge Boredom Buster Challenge pack.  She’s completed her favourite bake by making cheesy pasta complete with an ingredients list and recipe.  Just 2 more clauses to do to earn the badge.

Eloise – Eloise has completed the catch-up Skills Builder activity  “Use it to Move It”, learning about different muscle groups , how we use them and keep them healthy.  Well done Eloise who has now completed her Feel Good Skills Builder Badge.  Eloise has also made a start on the Grow Your Own interest badge by planting tomato seeds.

Aurora – Aurora has also made a fabulous start on her Baking interest badge by making delicious cookies.  Like Isla, she also needs to complete another 2 clauses to earn the badge.

Ellie N aka Ned– Ned has made a great start to the Butterfly challenge badge taken from our Easter Challenge pack.  She’s made butterfly cakes, found out about 5 British butterflies and drew pictures of these and also found out about plants that attract butterflies.  She needs to complete 2 more activities to earn this badge.

Buttercup has been busy running her Bonkers Bunker Bingo on Sunday which saw quite a few of our Brownie mums joining in.  She was even interviewed on BBC Radio Lincolnshire all about it and mentioned our Unit and all our lovely Leaders!

We’ve added a few more activities to our Brownies at Home page including a link to the Girlguiding Facebook page who are running an Activity a Day.  Girlguiders around the country are completing the “This Little Guiding Light of Mine” posters and putting them in their windows as well as every Sunday between 1910 and 2020 (the dates Girlguiding has been running) lighting a candle in their windows.  Please do join in next week 🙂

Daffodil has been busy re-arranging our Parva House trip which should have been the weekend just gone 🙁  It’s now in September.  She’s also been sorting out several different versions of our upcoming termly programmes (Apr – Jul 20 then Sep – Dec 20) depending on whether or not we are back after Easter or as far away as September.  We’re also in the process of booking our annual trip to the Panto for January 2021 and our end of term Christmas trip.

St Barnabas have been in touch to thank our Unit for donating all our entry fees to the charity rather than requesting refunds after they had to cancel the event.  Look out for them mentioning us on their social media soon!

That’s it for now.  Keep safe, keep healthy and keep in touch xx
