Monday 19 July – Sports Night!
This week was our annual Sports Day with Snowdrop organising a fabulous evening of fun, laughter and games. It was also our first face to face meeting since our one-off outdoor meet and greet last September! So lots of new faces to meet in person for the very first time including our newest Leader Bluebell plus Sophie, Evie P, Eliora, Holly, Paige, Ayda, Emily and Darcy!!
Firstly though, we held the very important (albeit socially distanced) Promise ceremony for Ayda and Emily. They both did a fantastic job remembering their Promise while the rest of the Brownies joined in with the words of our Promise song “Twist me and join me, and show me the elf, I look in the mirror and there saw … “. It was our first face to face Promise ceremony is almost 18 months and was just wonderful. The girls received their Promise certificate, metal promise badge, Adventure Book plus lots of other badges in a sealed bag to take home and for parents to pin on their Promise badges.
Snowdrop, Bluebell and Daisy alongside Chloe and Emily (our Brownie Helpers for the evening) set up the obstacle course while Buttercup and Daffodil completed the Promise ceremony. In our new Sixes and spread out to ensure 1m social distancing, the Brownies competed in several games including egg & spoon, sack race, skipping race, bean bag race, water balance, football slalom, ball & racket race before finishing with penalty shot out with our new pop-up goals. The Brownies did really well, giving it their all despite the heat. We had lots of breaks to make sure no one got too hot and got to know each other a little better.
After the last game, it was time for some awards. We started by presenting everyone with a bespoke wooden sports night medal plus a few outstanding I’ve Been a Virtual Brownie and Lincolnshire South 60th birthday challenge badges. Well done to Bobbin, Gracie, Isabel, Mia and Kitty who have attended EVERY zoom session since September 2020. They received a lovely certificate and attendance badge. Isabel also received her Aviation, Baking and Local History interest badges. Lastly, Daffodil thanked the Leaders with a small thank you gift for giving up so much of their time to ensure our Unit keep going.
A brill night – well done to all and a massive Brownie thank you to Snowdrop who organised it.
That’s it, this was our last official meeting of the term; we have our trip out next week for those who signed up for it. Daffodil will sent an email with all the details at the weekend. We’re not staying open this year during the holidays but will be running a couple of summer holiday challenge badges. Check out the Brownie Resources page for more details on them. Bye for now and have a fabulous summer break.
