Monday 17 July – Sports Day

This week was our last one of the term, and we finished with our annual Sports Day. Daisy, Sunflower, Lilly and Blossom with help from Blue Cheese and Paige set up and ran the event. In our Sixes we completed lots of fun games including football slalom, skipping, bean bag balancing, wheelbarrows, sprint races and an obstacle course. The Brownies had a great time with lots of fun and laughter and giving it their all. We had lots of breaks to make sure no one got too hot and kept hydrated and had a snack (though the planned ice-cream didn’t happen as it didn’t turn up!).

We also end of term awards ceremony:

Trefoil Guild 80th anniversary badge – awarded to all those Brownies who attended all the meeting we worked on this badge (including a few who missed a meeting but caught up at home).

Have Adventures Theme Awards. Congratulations to Amy, Alicia, Emma, Emily H, Emily S, and Olivia who all received their Have Adventures Theme award as they completed the Archaeology interest badge at our Brownie weekend.

Brownie Bronze Award. A huge congratulations and well done to Emma, Emily S and Olivia who having completed 2 theme awards, earned their Bronze Section award. The Brownies received a lovely official Bronze award certificate and badge.

Best Brownie of the Term – as nominated by the leaders – Isabel.  Always smiling, super enthusiastic, a smashing Sixer to the Hedgehogs, polite, hardworking and of course our first recipient of the Brownie gold section award.  Well done Isabel who received a lovely certificate, lots of Brownie goodies plus a well done badge.

We also said a fond farewell to Marlee who is moving away plus Amy, Mia and Olivia who are all moving up to Guides. The girls received their leaving Brownies certificate and a Brownies was an adventure metal badge to pin on their guide uniform (Marlee received a spotty pencil instead).

Lastly, Daffodil thanked all our wonderful Leaders on behalf of the Brownies; Blossom, Daisy, Lilly, Sunflower and, of course, our Young Leader Blue Cheese received a card and small gift. Sadly, Buttercup, Marigold and Snowdrop weren’t able to attend this meeting so will receive theirs at the weekend at our leaders’ afternoon tea (being hosted by Sunflower).

That’s it, apart from the trip to a local nursing home as we’ve been invited to their summer fayre in August, that’s us until September. This website will be totally redesigned by Mr Daffodil over the summer holidays so watch this space!!
