Below is a list of events planned, including outings or a themed evening/party, that will take place week beginning (actual date is either our usual meeting night or as per the consent form).


 Promise Ceremony – December 2019Brownie Pond
Those Tweenies who have completed at least 6 Tweenie sessions with Daisy and feel ready, will take their Promise this week.  A “Tweenie” is a girl who is ‘tween not being a Brownie and being a Brownie. Those girls taking their Promise will pick the theme for the whole meeting and their Promise ceremony.

Potential Tweenies taking their promise: Isla J and Lilly
Guests are invited to arrive at 7.10pm
Full Brownie uniform with sash or gilet to sew badges on is required

Photos/filming permitted but not to be put on social media.
Brownies will receive: a Brownie Book, metal Brownie Promise badge, a certificate and a variety of badges to sew onto their uniform.


End of Term Christmas Party – December 2019
As voted by the Brownies, our end of term event will be a Christmas party at our meeting place rather than going out on a trip.  So, we are having a full on Christmas party with disco and cake!

Theme: Movies/Hollywood
Wear: Any movie/hollywood themed outfit with dancing shoes
Bring: A drink
Snack, games, prizes and gifts provided!


Panto Trip – January 2020
Our annual trip to the Panto will be a sole trip with just our Unit this year.
(Not to be confused with the District panto trip on Sun 8th Dec costing £15).  Details below:

Venue: As per consent form
Date: Week beginning Monday 30th December
Drop Off: 10.30am – 10.45pm at the latest  – show starts at 11am
Pick up:  1.30pm
Cost: £11 but will include ticket, badge & sweeties at interval.  Pay here.

Confirmed attendees: Amelia D, Amelia W, Aurora, Caitlin, Chloe, Ellie T,  Isla J, Lilly, Ned, Paige, Roger, Sophie M, Sophie S (13) with Buttercup, Daisy, Daffodil, Snowdrop and Isobel in attendance. LIST NOW CLOSED – email Daffodil to go on reserve list.

Bring:  Wear full Brownie uniform and bring a drink.

Fundraising Bag Pack –  February 2020
Continuing to raise funds for our Unit, rather than our usual termly charity evening:

When: Week beginning Monday 3rd February
Bring: Nothing
Activities: Bag packing at a local supermarket. Just 4 volunteers required to do a 30 minute shift each.
Wear: Super smart Brownie uniform.

District Thinking Day – February 2020
Our annual District Thinking Day which includes Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from all Waddington and Bracebridge Heath units will take place February 2020.  This year’s theme is Mexico and usually consists of an activity such as dancing plus craft.  Details below:

Venue: As per consent form
Date: Week beginning Monday 24th February
Drop Off: 9.15 – 9.30am / Pick up:  12.30pm
Cost: tbc (usually around £5) as set by the District.  GoCardLess links direct to District to follow nearer the time.

Bring:  Wear full Brownie uniform and bring a drink.

Brownie Weekend Away – March 2020
Our traditional Spring term get away will be in late March 2020.  We are returning to Parva House for a weekend of messy crafts!  Sign-up will start in September 2019 and full cost is a mere £35. Full details on the Brownie Holidays page here.

St Barnabas Colour Dash – May 2020
The Leaders are taking part in the 2020 St Barnabas Colour Dash and we’d like as many Brownies as possible to join us this time (we did it on our own in 2017).

When: Date to be decided but early May 2020
Where: Lincolnshire Show Ground
Cost: £15 entry for Brownies; £25 for adults
Wear: Shorts, trainers and plain white t-shirt.  Accessorise with fairy wings, leggings, head bands and ballet skirts! The more colourful the better!

Bring a drink; badges will be awarded to those who take part.  Brownies will be responsible for raising their own sponsorship but this is not compulsory as they are already paying the entrance fee.  A link to the Unit’s donation page will go out nearer the time.

Summer School Fair Stall – June 2020
We love running the stalls so much that we are planning on a third time in June 2020! We are doing it to raise funds but mainly our profile as there are lot of other Brownies units in the area so want to make sure we maintain our numbers and continue our future as a busy and vibrant unit.  The plan is to do a combination of an activity stall such as Human Fruit Machine  and maybe just one craft suitable for all ages both boys and girls 🙂 Again, we will ask for volunteer Brownies to come and help man the stall.

Full super smart Brownie uniform plus drink would be required.

District 85th Birthday Event – July 2020
Our  District (all Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from all Waddington and Bracebridge Heath units) is 85 years old in 2020 so we are planning a very special birthday treat.  The girls voted to go to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Venue:  Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Date: Week beginning Monday 29th June
Drop Off: tbc / Pick up:  tbc
Cost: £27.50 (as set by the District) includes the cost of a coach and badge   GoCardLess links direct to District to follow nearer the time – £15 due Feb 2020 / £12.50 due May 2020. Depending on unit funds, we may be able to subsidise this so our parents only a little less – decision to be made in New Year.

Bring:  Wear full Brownie uniform and bring a drink and packed lunch.

End of Term Event – July 2020
Our end of term trip will be a return to an activity centre in Lincoln to take part in some outside water activities. The plan is to arrive at 6pm, get changed into wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. Then we’d have an hour in the water doing one or more of the following activities:

Messing around on the water on sit-on tops, pedalos and inflatables.
Mission Impossible – using similar equipment, but this is a more instructor led activity and the Brownies would work as two teams to complete challenges.
Sit-on Top session – a chance to have a go with our sit on top canoes and learn some paddling skills.

Out of the water around 7.30pm then changed back into warm things and have a drink.  So to sum up:

Full price £7.50 but just £5.50 for parents to pay. Unit will pay other £2. MAY BE REDUCED IF ENOUGH FUNDS FROM BAG PACKING!
Drop off between 5.45 and 6pm; Pick up: 8pm

Bring: Swimming costume, towel, old trainers or something to wear on their feet in the water (no sandals or crocs which can come off), then warm clothes to put back on after the session. BROWNIE UNIFORM NOT REQUIRED.
Girls will need to have their dinner/tea beforehand as it is not provided.
Girls will receive a drink and maybe a cupcake after the activity.

Park Scavenger Hunt  – July 2020
This year’s Summer Holidays trip will be to a local park to complete a scavenger hunt:

When: week beginning Monday 20th July
Drop off: 6pm at venue notified in email/consent form
Pick up: 8pm at venue notified in email/consent form

Cost: Free but £5 deposit required to book place along with consent form.
Female siblings aged 5 – 12 years old welcome to attend too.

Bring: Day sack with drink and waterproof coat
Wear: Brownies – full Brownie uniform with necker & sun hat
Wear: Siblings – trainers or other walking shoes and sun hat

Summer Holiday Sessions / Bring a Friend Nights – 2020
Our Bring a Friend nights are held during the Summer holidays and will take place week beginning:

Monday 27th July / Monday 3rd August / Monday 10th August / Monday 17th August
Usual meeting venue and meeting times (6 – 7.30pm)
For 2020, the Summer Holiday Sessions are just £2 each to attend!!

Brownies are welcome to bring up to 2 friends: girls aged 6 – 11 years old and we usually invite (via email) any girls due to join us the following term.  Brownie uniform is not required; however, Brownies still need to bring a drink .

Brownies to bring/pick up their guests. Guests need to bring a drink, tie back long hair and wear sensible running shoes and inform the Leaders of any allergies, disabilities that they should be aware off.


Brownie Weekend Away – September 2020
