Below is a list of events planned, including outings or a themed evening/party (locations as per consent form/newsletters/emails).


Coronavirus (COVID-19): On Monday 16 March 2020, Girlguiding suspended all Girlguiding activities with immediate effect for the foreseeable future.  The future programme below will be subject to change depending on when the suspension is lifted by Girlguiding.  Stay tuned for updates as and when they occur.  Keep safe, keep healthy and keep in touch.

Virtual Promise Ceremony – December 2020
Those Tweenies who have completed at least 6 Tweenie sessions with Lavender and Daisy and feel ready, will take their Promise this week.  A “Tweenie” is a girl who is ‘tween not being a Brownie and being a Brownie”. Those girls taking their Promise will pick the theme for the whole meeting and their Promise ceremony. Potential Tweenies taking their promise: Amelia M, Amy, Bobbin, Isabel, Maddie & Mia.

When: Week beginning Monday  7 December for Group 1 girls
When: Week beginning Monday 14 December for Group 2 girls
No guests permitted due to social distancing.
Full Brownie uniform is required


Brownie Holiday – January 2021
We are finally going on our much anticipated trip to Parva House this month.  More details here.


Bring a Friend Night – February 2021
We’d love all our Brownies to bring a friend or two to this week’s meeting!
This week’s activity will be Thinking Day themed with lots of fun games and crafts.

When: Week beginning Monday 22 February
Timings: Usual times.  Guests to be dropped off my host Brownie’s parents.
Cost: Free for guests
Sign up:  None, just come along but inform Daffodil of any food allergies, medical concerns etc.
Wear: Brownies to wear full Brownie uniform as usual and bring a drink etc.
Bring: Guests to arrive with a drink and footwear suitable for running around in


District Thinking Day – February 2021
Our annual District Thinking Day which includes Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from all Waddington and Bracebridge Heath units will take place this month  The theme will be Japan.  All details below:

When: Sunday 28 February
Drop off: 9.45-10am at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Pick up:  12.30pm at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Cost: Usually around £5 as set by the District, not our Unit
Sign up:

Wear
: Wear full Brownie uniform with freshly ironed neckers
Bring: A drink and a shiny 50p piece
Consent form: Event will be included in the September 2020 multi-activity consent form.


Museum of Lincolnshire Life & Lincoln Observatory Trip – March 2021
We are returning to the Museum following a very successful trip in 2018.  We will also be visiting the Lincoln Observatory.  The plan is to visit the Museum first then walk 0.5 miles and finish the day at the Observatory.

When: Week beginning Monday 15 March
Drop off: 9.30am at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Pick up: 2.30pm at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Cost: Free as the unit will pay the £6.20 entry fee for each Brownies; however, a £10 deposit required to book .  The venue requires a minimum booking of 25 so if we don’t get enough Brownies we MAY open it up to female siblings at cost.
Sign up: Deposits to be dropped off in named envelope by Monday 22 February
Deposits will be returned on the day | Deposits are non-refundable after Monday 1 March
Wear: Brownies – full Brownie uniform with necker & sun hat
Bring: Day sack with drink, packed lunch and money for souvenir shop
Consent form: This event will be included in the September 2020 multi-activity consent form


St Barnabas Colour Dash Fest – May 2021
Last year’s colour dash was postponed by 12 months due to COVID19 but we plan to enter again and fingers crossed we will soon be covered in coloured powder!  Badges will be awarded to those who take part.

When: Saturday 15 May
Drop off: 9.45am for a 10am start at the Lincolnshire Showground (gate tbc)
Pick up: tbc, around 2pm at the Lincolnshire Showground (gate tbc)
Cost: £15 entry fee for Brownies
Sign up: Pay online [link to follow nearer the time] by Monday 22 March
Sponsorship: Not required for those who raised money for last year’s cancelled event
Wear: Shorts, trainers and plain white t-shirt.  Accessorize with fairy wings, leggings, head bands and ballet skirts! The more colourful the better!
Bring: A drink,  sunscreen and hat
Consent form: This event will be included in the September 2020 multi-activity consent form


Bring a Friend Night – June 2021
We’d love all our Brownies to bring a friend or two to this week’s meeting!  Activities to be decided nearer the time but guaranteed lots of fun!

When: Week beginning Monday 8 June

Cost: Free for guests

End of Term Trip – July 2021
Our end of term trip will be a return to an activity centre in Lincoln to take part in some outside water activities. The plan is to arrive by 6pm, get changed into wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. Then we’d have an hour in the water doing one or more of the following activities:

Messing around on the water on sit-on tops, pedalos and inflatables
Mission Impossible – using similar equipment, but this is a more instructor led activity and the Brownies would work as 2 teams to complete challenges
Sit-on Top session – a chance to have a go with our sit on top canoes and some paddling skills

Out of the water around 7.30pm then changed back into warm things and have a drink.

When: Monday 19 July
Drop off: 5.30-5.45pm ready for 6pm start at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Pick up: 8pm at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Cost: tbc but usually around £7
Sign up: Pay online [link to follow nearer the time] by Monday 24 May
Bring: Swimming costume, towel, old trainers or something to wear on their feet in the water (no sandals or crocs which can come off), then warm clothes to put back on after the session.
Wear: Brownie uniform is not required.
Other Information: Girls will need to have their tea beforehand as it is not provided | Girls will receive a drink and snack after the activity

Summer Holidays Trip –  July 2021
Our first summer holidays session will be a trip to a local park for a scavenger hunt, games and hopefully ice-cream!  This is also a Bring a Friend event (friends or siblings aged 6 to 12 years old).

When: Week beginning Monday 26 July
Drop off: 5.45-6pm at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Pick up:  7.30-7.45pm at venue as per consent form & weekly newsletters
Cost: Free but a £5 deposit is required to book each child’s place
Sign up: Deposits to be dropped off in named envelope by Monday 28 June
Deposits will be returned on the day | Deposits are non-refundable after Monday 12 July 
Wear
: Anything but sensible running shoes and sunhat required
Bring: A drink and sunscreen
Consent form: This event will be included in the September 2020 multi-activity consent form


Summer Holidays Sessions –  August 2021
We will be open during the school summer holidays. These are also a Bring a Friend nights (female friends or siblings aged 6 to 12 years old).  As long as we have 2 adults and at least 4 children will be run Brownies as usual with lots of fun activities and games.  Brownies can work on interest badges if they like.

When: Week beginning Monday 3 August for 4 weeks
Drop off: Usual start times at usual venue
Pick up:  7.30pm at usual venue
Cost: Depends on funds but no more than £2 cash a session per child
Sign up: None, just come along but inform Daffodil of any food allergies, medical concerns etc.
Wear: Anything but sensible running shoes and sunhat required
Bring: A drink and sunscreen
Consent form: Not required


Junior Poacher Day – August 2022
Poacher is an international week long camp for scouts and guides.  Junior poacher is specifically for the younger members of Girlguiding/Scouting and is a one day event for Brownies.  It is only held every 4 years and we have been as a unit twice before in 2013 & 2017.  Check out the blog here from our last visit to see what a fab day we had!

When: tbc but ONE day between 1 – 4 August
Drop off: Usually 9.15 – 9.30am at the Lincolnshire Showground (gate tbc)
Pick up: Pick up:  4pm at the Lincolnshire Showground (gate tbc)
Cost: Usually around £12-£15
